Institute 1-1 Donegal Celtic
Carnegie Premier League - Monday, 31st December, 2007
INSTITUTE and Donegal Celtic brought the curtain down on 2007 with this New Years' Eve draw at the Riverside Stadium.

The visitors moved in front after just ten minutes through a Paul McDonald header, a lead they might have doubled just a couple of minutes later when 'Stute 'keeper Michael Doherty pushed a Sean Armstrong effort onto the woodwork followed immediately by a Ciaran Donaghy which was directed against a post.

Paul McVeigh then threatened with a 20-yard drive just before the half-hour mark but again Doherty proved his worth by tipping the ball around the upright.

Institute levelled a minute into the second half when Philip Lowry set Ryan McCreadie up to beat Declan Brown from close range.

But Celtic might have snatched victory ten minutes from time had James Lavery's header been on target with the goal at his mercy.
