Larne 1-0 Glenavon
CIS Insurance Cup - Thursday, 31st August, 2006
LARNE moved into second spot in Group C with this defeat of Glenavon at Inver Park to complete a CIS double over the Lurgan Blues.

Glenavon thought they had taken a second minute lead, however, when Nathan McConnell slotted home a Gerard McMahon ball only for it to be ruled out offside.

Larne might have broken the deadlock themselves on 25 minutes with a Julian Ward effort which flew over the bar.

However the opening - and only - goal arrived 13 minutes later when Liam Mullan outpaced Barry Reid before cutting the ball back for Polish midfielder Tomaz Grzegorczyk to fire home from six yards.

After the break Larne keeper Chris Keenan did well to deny a point blank range header from McMahon while at the other end Grzegorczyk came close again with a header of his own with Lewis Hamlin's rebound being blocked by Paul Rice.
