Linfield 3-2 Limavady United
Carnegie Premier League - Wednesday, 31st January, 2007
LINFIELD staged a dramatic comeback to recoup a two-goal deficit and roar to the top of the Carnegie Premier League for the first time this season.

The Roesiders opened the scoring on 22 minutes when recent signing Austin Friel got on the end of a Ryan McCreadie ball over the defence to nip in and slot confidently past Alan Mannus.

And they stunned the Blues three minutes after the interval with a second goal. Again McCreadie and Friel combined for the latter to take the ball around Mannus after Noel Bailie had failed to cut out a McCreadie pass.

The home revival kicked off on 56 minutes when an Aiden O'Kane shot was blocked before falling for Peter Thompson who duly converted from around 15 yards.

Then, on 78 minutes, Limavady 'keeper Michael Doherty did well to turn another O'Kane effort around an upright for a corner but, unfortuntely for the visitors, Mark Dickson was on hand to scramble home the resultant set piece following some good work from Glenn Ferguson.

And Limavady's hearts were finally broken two minutes from time when Ferguson popped up to slam home the winner after Doherty had pushed out a Thompson effort.
