Armagh City 2-0 Glenavon
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 29th December, 2007
ARMAGH City inflicted an eighth successive defeat upon Glenavon with this comfortable victory at Holm Park.

There were no goals at the break much to Armagh's frustration given their dominance of the opening 45 minutes.

Conor Forker should have done better with his ninth minute effort which he fired straight at Tuda Murphy while Sean Cleary shot over on 22 minutes when well placed.

Glenavon did have the ball in the net in the 33rd minute only for David Bracken to have his 'goal' to be ruled out offside.

Forker then had an effort cleared off the line on 43 minutes whilst right on the whistle Liam Cullen saw his 25-yard drive scrape the Glenavon bar.

However Forker only had to wait until the seventh minute of the second half to fire City in front when he kept his cool from a Mark Turkington through ball to beat Murphy.

Gerard McMahon came close to equalising for the Lurgan Blues not long after while Forker really should have doubled the home advantage on 65 minutes only to drag his effort wide.

City were reduced to ten men on 75 minutes when Terry Fitzpatrick picked up his second booking of the game but they responded magnificently just four minutes later when Shea McGerrigan passed for Hawthorne to knock the ball beyond Murphy.
