Lisburn Distillery 1-0 Newry City
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 29th September, 2007
LISBURN Distillery maintained their perfect start to the campaign with this narrow defeat of Newry City at Ballyskeagh.

They might have opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Andrew Waterworth broke through to get on the end of a Gary Browne ball only for City defender Joe McDonnell to direct the ball onto the base of an upright with his last gasp challenge.

And Waterworth came close moments later as well when he narrowly missed connecting with a Ryan McCann ball into the area.

He was denied again on the half-hour by City keeper Robert Robinson but five minutes later the Whites finally found a way through when a Browne free-kick was headed home by Paul Muir from six yards.

The visitors almost levelled five minutes into the second half when Niall Hudson sent in a low cross from the right but Stephen Garrett could only send the ball wide.

City's only other decent chance came later in the half when Ian Curran fired into the roof of the net.
