Dungannon Swifts 1-4 Glenavon
Carnegie Premier League - Friday, 28th September, 2007
DUNGANNON Swifts slumped to a second successive league defeat with this reversal to Glenavon at Stangmore Park.

With both sides desperate to collect the points after a negative opening to the campaign it was no surprise that the chances came thick and fast.

Dungannon might have opened the scoring after two minutes when Paul Baron had a goalbound effort blocked before the ball fell loose for Shea Campbell only for his shot to be headed off the line by Barry Meehan.

It was Glenavon, however, who broke the deadlock after just ten minutes when Richard Gibson dispatched an expertly struck free-kick beyond Dwayne Nelson in at the right post.

The visitors doubled their advantage on 23 minutes through Eamonn Murray who darted clear of the defence to meet a Gerard McMahon ball and beat Nelson with ease.

Number three came 58 seconds after the interval courtesy of half-time substitute Paul Carville whose 22-yard free-kick left Nelson helpless on it's way into the top right corner.

And Carville was involved in the fourth on 64 minutes when his cross found Colm Kearney at the back post who, in turn, was faced with the simple task of heading home.

Dungannon did grab a consolation on 70 minutes, however, when a Campbell cross from the left was well finished by Baron.
