Linfield 4-0 Coleraine
Carnegie Premier League - Tuesday, 27th November, 2007
GLENN Ferguson bagged a hat-trick as Linfield swept to the top of the table with this comfortable defeat of Coleraine at Windsor Park.

He only needed four minutes to open his account when he made the most of a botched clearance by Bannsiders 'keeper Lawrence McCormick to slot the ball into the empty net.

Coleraine almost responded immediately, however, when both Damien Whitehead and Darren Boyce somehow failed to force the ball over the line.

The Blues made it 2-0 on 23 minutes when Paul McAreavey fired home a left-foot effort on the edge of the six-yard box from a Peter Thompson through ball.

'Spike' then doubled his tally six minutes from the break with a penalty awarded for a Tommy McCallion foul on Tim Mouncey.

And he claimed the match ball on 85 minutes when he blasted the ball past McCormick again from the edge of the box.
