Newry City 3-0 Armagh City
Carnegie Premier League - Wednesday, 26th December, 2007
NEWRY City returned to winning ways with this comfortable Boxing Day defeat of Armagh City at The Showgrounds.

It was Armagh, though, who should have opened the scoring inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour when Shane Coney collected a Sean Cleary pass but with only 'keeper Robert Robinson to beat his control let him down.

At the other end Newry responded with a Paul Prigent 20-yard drive before, four minutes from the break, they moved in front when Richard Clarke fired low past Stuart Addis from just outside the area.

David Hawthorne might have levelled early in the second half only to fire over when well placed.

Newry extended their lead on 73 minutes through Sean Friars who pounced when Addis failed to hold a stinging Prigent effort from a Joe McDonnell pass before, two minutes later, Emmett Friars added a third with a header from brother Sean's right wing cross.
