Drogheda United 2-0 Glentoran
Setanta Sports Cup - Monday, 26th March, 2007
GLENTORAN dropped out of the Setanta Sports Cup after this defeat at the hands of holders Drogheda United on what was a disastrous night for the Irish League.

The Glens start brightly and almost take an early lead when Michael Halliday headed wide.

But the deadlock was broken on 29 minutes when Aidan O'Keefe fired into the right hand corner of Elliott Morris' goal after finding space on the left.

Glentoran then suffered a further setback on 37 minutes when they were reduced to ten men when Jason Hill was sent off for bringing down Eamon Zayed as he bore down on goal.

And, one minute from the break, it got even worse when the Drogs doubled their advantage after Tony Grant found space between Paul Leeman and Gary Smyth to beat Morris.

There was a much more committed showing from the Glens in the second half but their numerical disadvantage proved too great a hurdle to keep their tournament hopes alive.
