Dungannon Swifts 0-2 Cork City
Setanta Sports Cup - Tuesday, 26th February, 2008
TWO first half George O'Callaghan goals sent Dungannon Swifts crashing to defeat in this Setanta Sports Cup opener at Stangmore Park.

He grabbed his first after just 14 minutes with a 22-yard free-kick just inside Dwayne Nelson's left upright.

The Swifts might have levelled just before the half-hour mark had recent signing Jamie Tomelty finished better when presented with a clear view of the goal only to offer a weak shot which didn't trouble 'keeper Michael Devine.

O'Callaghan doubled Cork's lead three minutes from the break after he chested down a Denis Behan cross before delivering a blistering shot into the back of Nelson's goal.

Behan came close to adding a third in the 52nd minute but with just the 'keeper to beat he fired into the side-netting while, on 69 minutes, O'Callaghan was narrowly denied his hat-trick with a 30-yard drive which clipped the Swifts crossbar.

And they struck the woodwork again right at the end when Dave Mooney sent an effort onto the bar followed by Liam Kearney's rebound attempt off the right post.
