Linfield 5-1 Lisburn Distillery
CIS Insurance Cup - Tuesday, 23rd October, 2007
LINFIELD powered their way into the semi-finals of the CIS Insurance Cup with this comprehensive defeat of Lisburn Distillery at Windsor Park.

The Blues moved in front after just 11 minutes through Glenn Ferguson who converted from the spot after Mark Dickson had been brought down by Andrew Waterworth.

They doubled their advantage on 33 minutes when Dickson laid the ball off for Peter Thompson to fire home from close range.

It was 3-0 in the opening minute of the second half after Thompson set Michael Gault up to send a left-foot effort past Philip Matthews from 15 yards.

The scoring continued three minutes short of the hour when Ferguson picked the ball up some 25 yards out, brought it forward despite the attention of two defenders and sent a strong drive beyond Matthews' reach.

Winkie Murphy made it 5-0 with 15 minutes remaining after combining with Dickson to unleash a right-foot shot into the corner of the net.

The Whites did pull one back four minutes later through U21 international Andrew Waterworth who nodded a Gary Browne corner past Alan Mannus but it proved scant consolation for the visitors.
