Glentoran 1-0 Dungannon Swifts
CIS Insurance Cup - Tuesday, 23rd October, 2007
HOLDERS Glentoran continued theirn defence of the CIS Insurance Cup with victory over Dungannon Swifts at The Oval to reach next month's semi-finals.

What proved to be the only goal of the game arrived on 16 minutes when Jason Hill got free down the left to send a cross over for Chris Morgan who nodded it down for Michael Halliday to volley home from six yards.

The Glens almost doubled their lead a few minutes later through former Swifts striker David Scullion whose header from a Rory Hamill corner drifted just wide into the side-netting.

Paul Baron had a great opportunity to level for the visitors midway through the half but his header was directed straight at 'keeper Michael Dougherty.

Later efforts in the first half from Niall McGinn tested Dougherty whilst after the break Baron threatened again but the ball was a little too high to make an impact.

The only other real effort of note was a 70th minute Michael Ward left-foot drive from a Hamill flick which was well saved by Swifts 'keeper Dwayne Nelson.
