Donegal Celtic 2-3 Glenavon
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 21st October, 2006
GLENAVON came from behind, thanks to a Nathan McConnell double, to record their first league win of the season with this defeat of Donegal Celtic.

The Hoops opened the scoring on 15 minutes through Daniel Lyons who completed a move which began when Gavin Melaugh played Sean Armstrong clear who hit the post with an effort of his own before the ball fell for Lyons.

That was how it stayed until two minutes short of the hour when Aidan McVeigh curled a left-foot shot home inside the opposite post from a Paul Walsh cross.

Then, on 72 minutes, McConnell knocked home his first of the game after some sloppy home defending allowed him to finish off a Gerard McMahon cross.

Celtic levelled just two minutes later, however, through Armstrong who despatched a curling left-foot drive beyond the reach of Paul Rice.

Glenavon had the last laugh, though, when McConnell sealed the victory with an 87th minute header from a Gavin McDonnell cross.
