Linfield 2-1 Dungannon Swifts
Carnegie Premier League - Wednesday, 20th February, 2008
LINFIELD stretched their lead at the top of the table to three points with this defeat of Dungannon Swifts at Windsor Park.

The Blues might have opened the scoring after ten minutes when Winkie Murphy rose highest to meet a Damian Curran corner only for the ball to come back off the Swifts crossbar.

As it was they have to wait until the stroke of half-time to move in front after Jamie Mulgrew delivered the ball from the right for Oran Kearney to knock past Dwayne Nelson.

They doubled their advantage three minutes into the second half when the ball fell loose for Glenn Ferguson who in turn knocked it into the path of Peter Thompson to confidently beat Nelson in a one on one situation.

It was almost 3-0 on 70 minutes when Curran hammered a free-kick from the edge of the area against the bar.

The visitors halved the deficit on 80 minutes, however, through Austin Friel who fired from close range past Alan Mannus after Aidan McCarron crossed low from the right.
