Glenavon 0-2 Larne
CIS Insurance Cup - Saturday, 19th August, 2006

GLENAVON slumped to a second successive defeat with this reversal at home to a Larne side who seem to have found form after a mixed pre-season.

Lewis Hamlin opened the scoring for the visitors after 13 minutes with a low drive from around 30 yards which nipped in on Paul Rice's left hand side.

Then, on the half hour mark, they doubled their advantage through Liam Mullan who sneaked in at the back post after Rice had misjudged an Andy Cleary cross.

Glenavon might have pulled a goal back through Nathan McConnell when he beat Chris Keenan only for Cleary to clear the ball off the line.

And Cleary came to Larne's rescue again in the closing moments with another last gasp clearance, this time from a Paul Knight cross.
