Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts
Setanta Sports Cup - Tuesday, 18th March, 2008
CLIFTONVILLE and Dungannon Swifts cancelled each other out in this somewhat uninspiring Setanta Sports Cup encounter at Solitude.

With both sides suffering defeats in their opening games a win was imperative to close the gap on leading duo Cork City and Drogheda United.

The Reds created the majority of what first half chances there were with Mark Holland sending the ball wide from distance after 20 minutes while he later volleyed over from a Liam Fleming cross before Ryan Catney sent the ball straight at Dwayne Nelson on the stroke of half-time.

After the break a Francis Murphy effort was deflected wide with Chris Scannell also going close from a Declan O'Hara ball.

The Swifts might have snatched the points at the end, though, when Mark McAllister had an injury time shot stopped by John Connolly while Michael Hegarty's follow-up was blocked on the line.
