Glentoran 5-0 Donegal Celtic
CIS Insurance Cup - Saturday, 16th September, 2006
GARY Hamilton showed his form of old to bag a brace for Glentoran as they swept past Donegal Celtic to earn a home quarter-final against his former club Portadown early next month.

However by the time the former Northern Ireland international opened his account the game was all but won as the Glens cruised into an early lead.

Michael Halliday - leading scorer in the competition to date - began the scoring on 11 minutes with a perfectly weighted header past Alex Spackman from a Kyle Neill cross.

And Colin Nixon added another barely three minutes later with a 35-yard effort which Spackman appeared to gather only to somehow let the ball slip from his grasp into the net.

Hamilton then arrived on the scene with number three on 24 minutes, a volley from ten yards which took a slight deflection off Ciaran Donaghy.

That was how it stayed until four minutes after the hour when Sean Ward collected the ball on the left, took it past the defence and fired a low drive into the bottom corner.

Hamilton completed the rout ten minutes from the end with a great solo effort which saw him a number of opposition players before blasting the ball into the roof of the net.
