Donegal Celtic 2-0 Glenavon
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 16th February, 2008
DONEGAL Celtic took a huge step towards securing their top flight safety for another season with this two-goal defeat of fellow strugglers Glenavon at Celtic Park.

The game was turned on its head after just three minutes when Glenavon 'keeper Tuda Murphy was sent-off for bringing down Colm Kearney on the edge of the area, to be replaced between the sticks by Gerard McMahon.

And six minutes later DC moved in front when Paul McVeigh rifled home the opening goal from a Kearney flick.

Kearney might have made it 2-0 on 26 minutes only to drag his shot wide of the target.

Then, on the stroke of half-time, Trevor Molloy was brought down inside the area by DC defender David Munster.

Molloy dusted himself down to take the resultant spot-kick but could only look on as it came back off an upright.

And in stoppage time McVeigh added Celtic's second when he pounced on a loose ball after McMahon did well to block a Rory Hamill effort.
