Ballymena United 0-4 Linfield
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 16th February, 2008
LINFIELD stormed back to the top of the table with a comprehensive four goal defeat of a lacklustre Ballymena United at The Showgrounds.

And former Sky Blue favourite Oran Kearney was largely responsible with his first two goals of the season to set the champions well on their way to a comfortable victory.

He struck after just five minutes when he ran onto a Glenn Ferguson ball from midfield to coolly and confidently send a shot past United 'keeper Paul Murphy.

The Blues might have doubled their lead on ten minutes when Peter Thompson flicked a Jamie Mulgrew header against an upright but as it was they had to wait until the 70th minute to go two-up.

Michael Gault won a free-kick just outside the area after a run through the middle and from the set piece Kearney expertly curled the ball around the home wall and beyond Murphy.

It was 3-0 on 88 minutes through Tim Mouncey who nodded home a Damian Curran corner at the near post - and there was still time for Thompson to add a fourth right at the end when he ran on to a poor backpass from Dean Pooley to touch the ball over the line.
