Glentoran 1-1 Derry City
Setanta Sports Cup - Tuesday, 15th April, 2008
A COLIN Nixon goal 19 minutes from time earned Glentoran a share of the spoils from this Setanta Sports Cup game at home to Derry City.

He lifted the ball over City 'keeper Gerard Doherty after collecting a ball played into the visiting penalty area.

The Candystripes had led from the 51st minute when Conor Sammon converted a penalty awarded following a Jamie McGovern foul on Niall McGinn.

The Glens might have opened the scoring in the first half, though, when Michael Halliday tested Doherty with a header while Gary Hamilton also came close.

But it was Derry who finished strongest and came within a whisker of sealing the victory in the closing minutes when Gareth McGlynn thundered a 25-yard effort off an upright.
