Limavady United 1-2 Portadown
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 14th October, 2006
PORTADOWN finally secured their first Carnegie Premier League win of the season with this defeat of Limavady United at The Showgrounds.

The Roesiders created the best moments of the first half, however, and might have taken the lead after 22 minutes when Martin Ferry headed a Martin Cutmore free-kick narrowly wide.

Three minutes later, Vincent Sweeney was denied only by a superb Kevin Pressman save while, a few minutes from the break, Stephen Parkhouse fired wide despite having a number of better placed team-mates available to him.

Limavady finally opened the scoring eight minutes after the break when Parkhouse released Sweeney to coolly lob the ball over Pressman.

The Ports levelled on 67 minutes when Gary McCutcheon pounced to turn home a Peter Kennedy free-kick which keeper Michael Doherty failed to gather.

And, eight minutes later, McCutcheon struck again with the winner after he beat the offside trap to place the ball beyond the keeper.
