Glentoran 0-1 SK Brann
UEFA Cup - Thursday, 13th July, 2006
AN UNDER strength Glentoran kept their UEFA Cup hopes alive tonight following a narrow defeat to crack Norwegian side SK Brann at The Oval.

Paul Millar's side - missing four key players - held out against the Tippeligaen leaders for 68 minutes before succumbing to a Migen Minelli goal set up by former Rangers star Charlie Millar.

The Glens might well have taken something from the game but visiting keeper Johan Thorbjornsen made a number of brilliant stops to deny Wilo McDonagh and Chris Morgan - and they were given a boost for the return in two weeks time when Brann's key player, Cameroon international Arnaud Monkam, was sent off right at the end for a second bookable offence.

The return takes place in a fortnight.
