Further efforts followed when Darren Lockhart headed wide after 18 minutes while, on the half-hour, Loughgall keeper Robert Robinson did well to deny Michael Halliday.

The seemingly inevitable Glentoran goal eventually arrived five minutes from the break when the home defence failed to clear another moment of danger with Halliday on hand to drive the ball past Robinson from close range.

Then, nine minutes into the second half, the visitors doubled up through Hamilton who lobbed Robinson a minute after striking the underside of the bar from a Neill corner.
