A horrendous error by Larne 'keeper David Wilton who let a backpass slip through his legs presented Scannell with an open goal of which he took full advantage.

The Reds had led by two goals but were pegged back by their hosts in what turned into a classic cup tie.

George McMullan opened the scoring on 21 minutes with a spectacular overhead kick into the top right corner after David McAlinden had flicked on a Francis Murphy free-kick.

They moved further in front a minute from the break when Murphy fired an unstoppable shot past Wilton from a low Liam Fleming cross.

Larne pulled a goal back with 20 minutes remaining through Aaron Black who delivered a curling effort beyond John Connolly into the far corner.
