They opened the scoring on 27 minutes when Anto Crawford squared the ball across goal for Colin Beggs to knock home from barely three yards.

Four minutes later it was 2-0 after the unfortunate Willie Herron sent a looping header over his own keeper whilst attempting to clear a long David Magowan ball out of defence.

The Villagers reduced the arrears on 57 minutes, though, through Keith Percy who turned the ball home after a Gareth Liggett effort from a Johnny Black corner was pushed out by Neil Armstrong.
