Bangor 0-1 Glenavon
Promotion/Relegation play-off - Friday, 11th May, 2007
GLENAVON took a huge step towards retaining their Carnegie Premier League status with this victory over Bangor in the first leg of the promotion/relegation play-off at Clandeboye.

Bangor bossed the first half but, given the wet conditions, never really seemed to threaten the visiting goal apart from a 35th minute effort from Stephen Munn and even then it was a shot from distance which fizzled just wide of the upright.

The Lurgan Blues came racing out of the blocks at the start of the second half to bombard the Bangor goal - and it was no surprise that one of these attacks produced what proved to be the winner.

A Paul Walsh free-kick was knocked forward by Conor Walsh to be deflected for a corner ..... and from that set piece Stephen Magennis emerged at the back post to nod the ball past Ryan Brown.

Little else of note was created for the rest of the second half until, that is, the closing five minutes when Bangor striker Andy Morrow fired into the side netting while in stoppage time he sent the ball just wide from a Brian Hylands free-kick.
