Larne 1-5 Linfield
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 10th November, 2007
LINFIELD did their goal difference a world of good with this 5-1 thumping of Larne at Inver Park, thanks largely to a Peter Thompson hat-trick.

He fired the Blues into the lead after barely 90 seconds with a drive past Chris Keenan from the edge of the area.

And Thompson made it 2-0 on 15 minutes with a close range header from an Aiden O'Kane right-sided corner.

Then, two minutes later, Glenn Ferguson added a third at the back post when Winkie Murphy flicked on another O'Kane corner from the right.

Thompson then grabbed his hat-trick four minutes after the break with a shot from inside the area after former Larne striker Mark Dickson had threaded the ball through.

Larne pulled one back three minutes later, however, when Marty Hunter tucked the ball past Alan Mannus into the bottom right-hand corner.

But Northern Ireland Under-21 international Thomas Stewart made it 5-1 on 86 minutes with a simple side-footed effort past Keenan.
