Glenavon 0-1 Lisburn Distillery
CIS Insurance Cup - Saturday, 9th September, 2006
A CONOR Hagan first half goal was enough to propel Lisburn Distillery into second spot in Group C and consign Glenavon to a fifth straight defeat.

The Whites now need a single point from next week's visit to Larne to secure a quarter-final berth while for the Lurgan Blues the alarm bells are surely beginning to sound as the Carnegie Premier League kick-off rapidly approaches.

Hagan struck with the only goal of the game on 11 minutes when he unleashed a curling shot from 20 yards which deceived Paul Rice before creeping in at the left post.

And he might have added another after half-an-hour only to fire straight at the keeper while inbetween times Marty Hunter headed over for Glenavon with Paul Knight also going close from a Nathan McConnell cross.

After the break Damien McLaughlin came close to making it 2-0 with a 76th minute effort which Rice did well to deny.

Then, right at the end, Glenavon came within a whisker of securing their first points when Ciaran Quinn threatened with a 25-yard free-kick which Philip Matthews managed to push wide.
