Coleraine 1-2 Newry City
CIS Insurance Cup - Saturday, 8th September, 2007
COLERAINE'S dismal start to the season continued with yet another defeat which leaves them grappling with Institute to avoid picking up the Group D wooden spoon.

Newry, for their part, sit on top of the section but know they must get at least a draw from next weeks game with Portadown to earn a home draw in the quarter-finals.

Darren King opened the scoring for City after just 11 minutes in somewhat fortunate circumstances after his free-kick from the left bounced in front of keeper David O'Hare just as he was about to gather it.

The Bannsiders levelled on 28 minutes through Sean Heneghan who turned home the rebound after a Stephen Carson shot was blocked by Robert Robinson.

However Newry regained the advantage on 70 minutes when debutant Howard Beverland fouled Stephen Garrett and from the resultant spot-kick Richard Clarke sent O'Hare - on his 400th appearance for Coleraine - the wrong way.
