Donegal Celtic 1-2 Newry City
CIS Insurance Cup - Friday, 8th September, 2006
GOALS from Lee Feeney and Kevin Keegan helped Newry City move to the top of Group A with this defeat of Donegal Celtic.

And Roy Coyle's side will book their place in the last eight if Glentoran defeat Loughgall today at The Oval. For DC, however, this defeat rubber-stamped their elimination from the competition.

Feeney handed the visitors a first half lead when, moments before the break, he attempted an ambitious effort which - unfortunately for Celtic - took a deflection off defender Ciaran Donaghy before spinning beyond the reach of Alex Spackman.

Then, on 77 minutes, Keegan doubled Newry's advantage when he lifted the ball over the advancing keeper.

There was a grandstand finish, though, when - on 88 minutes - Gavin Melaugh pulled one back for DC with strong header and then, moments later, Daniel Lyons broke clear to beat Robert Robinson only to see his effort cannon back off an upright.
