Donegal Celtic 1-3 Coleraine
Carnegie Premier League - Thursday, 5th October, 2006
DONEGAL Celtic missed out on the chance to move to the top of the Carnegie Premier League with this home defeat to Coleraine.

A win would have put Paddy Kelly's side in pole position - albeit temporarily - but Coleraine had other ideas and climb into fourth spot level on points with the leaders.

The Bannsiders might have taken the lead after 9 minutes only for a Darren Boyce effort to strike the crossbar.

However they did manage it just 12 minutes later through Stephen Carson who turned home the rebound after Alex Spackman had blocked a Noel Anderson effort.

Number two arrived on 34 minutes after a defensive error by Michael McClean allowed Tommy McCallion in to knock the ball past the keeper.

And the game was over as a contest four minutes into the second half when Damien Whitehead added a third for the visitors after another mix-up in the home defence.

Celtic did grab a consolation on 61 minutes courtesy of a Gavin Melaugh touch following a goalmouth scramble but it wasn't enough to spark a home revival.
