Cliftonville 4-1 Limavady United
Carnegie Premier League - Tuesday, 5th February, 2008
CLIFTONVILLE are back on top of the Carnegie Premier League following this hard fought defeat of Limavady United at Solitude.

But they had to come from behind as the Roesiders produced a first half performance which belied their status as the league's bottom club.

They stunned the home support when they took the lead on 25 minutes through Paul Brown who headed past John Connolly after Barry Curran had delivered an inch perfect cross.

The pair almost doubled Limavady's advantage on 38 minutes when first Curran pounced on a poor David McAlinden back pass to smash the ball against the upright whilst Brown was unable to convert the rebound.

And it proved to be a costly miss when, after clearing the danger, the Reds levelled at the other end after Chris Scannell lobbed Glen Millar from the break.

Aaron Smyth made it 2-1 to Cliftonville on 53 minutes with a close range finish before, on the hour, adding another with a first time drive into the bottom corner from a Francis Murphy corner.

Another close range effort, this time from the boot of Stephen O'Neill, completed the scoring two minutes from the end.
