Dungannon Swifts 0-1 Portadown
Carnegie Premier League - Saturday, 4th November, 2006
PORTADOWN's revival continued with a fourth straight Carnegie Premier League victory which sees them move into fifth spot in the table.

That the game was able to go ahead at all was testament to the sheer hard work and endeavour demonstrated by all connected with Dungannon Swifts following the mindless act of vandalism committed to the Stangmore Park playing surface during the week.

The first half was little more than a succession of half chances and squandered opportunities for both sides with neither really looking likely to find a way through.

After the break, though, thinks began to look up with a Marc McCann six minutes in forcing Swifts keeper Dwayne Nelson into a full length diving save to turn away his low drive.

And at the other end some 12 minutes later Thomas Wray really should have done better when headed over from a Rodney McAree free-kick when well placed.

It proved a costly miss soon after when, on 65 minutes, Alan Teggart grabbed what turned out to be the match winner with a 20-yard left-foot drive past Nelson although the keeper did manage to get a hand to the ball.
