Dungannon Swifts 4-6 Newry City
Carnegie Premier League - Friday, 4th January, 2008
NEWRY City returned to winning ways with victory over Dungannon Swifts in an amazing ten-goal thriller at Stangmore Park.

The Swifts got off to a great start when, on five minutes, Austin Friel headed them in front from a Michael Hegarty cross.

However the visitors levelled just a couple of minutes later through a Kevin Keegan drive after Darren King had delivered a low cross from the right.

Dungannon regained the advantage within sixty seconds, though, with Friel's second of the game - a low shot from the edge of the area - before Emmett Friars equalised for Newry with a glancing header from a Sean Friars free-kick on 21 minutes.

Niall Hudson made it 3-2 to the visitors six minutes later with a stunning free-kick from inside his own area followed quickly by a 35th Emmett Friars header from another Sean Friars ball.

Michael Collins added a fifth for Newry - his second in as many games - on 50 minutes only to receive his marching orders just five minutes later following an incident with Johnny Montgomery.

The scoring continued on 69 minutes when Rodney McAree pulled one back from the spot for the Swifts.

And they reduced the arrears further still barely four minutes later after Mark McAllister got a touch to a Shea Campbell left-wing cross.

But Richard Clarke made the game save for the visitors eleven minutes later from time when he coolly rounded Dwayne Nelson for Newry's sixth.
