Crusaders Reserves 2-1 Donegal Celtic Reserves
George Wilson Cup (final) - Wednesday, 1st November, 2006
CRUSADERS Reserves lifted the George Wilson Cup for only the second time in their history with an extra-time defeat of Donegal Celtic Reserves at Seaview.

It was Celtic, however, who looked the more dangerous in an ultimately scoreless first half after creating three decent scoring opportunities.

On 25 mins Crues defender Barry Spence headed a Damien Fegan free-kick against his own bar with the ball being scrambled away

Not long after Fegan was again denied when a low drive was cleared off the line by Stephen Scott.

And another effort just before the break was headed narrowly over by Antony Lagan.

DC eventually opened the scoring on the hour through Brendan Allsopp who hammered home the rebound from a Robbie White free-kick which Aaron Hogg could only parry.

However the Crues levelled almost immediately when David Rainey was allowed the time to calmly finish a Eamon McAllister cross from the right.

And the winner arrived five minutes into extra-time when Darren Stirling played the ball through from Declan Cadell to slide the ball past Declan Brown.

It was only the second time the 'Wee' Crues have claimed the George Wilson Cup, their first way back in 1952/53 in what was, incidentally, the inaugural season
