Dinaburg 0-1 (1-2 agg) Cliftonville
UEFA Inter-Toto Cup - Sunday, 1st July, 2007
A MARK Holland header after just seven minutes was enough to see Cliftonville progress to the second round of the Intertoto Cup at the expense of Latvian opponents FC Dinaburg.

The Reds progressed 2-1 on aggregate and now face Belgian side KAA Gent next weekend. Although the draw handed Gent home advantage in the first leg negotiations are currently underway between the clubs to determine the exact order of the games.

Holland nodded the winner past 'keeper Fevgenisis Laizans after George McMullan had knocked forward a Sean Friars cross.

Even though they came under considerable pressure from their hosts Cliftonville produced a superb rearguard performance to keep Dinaburg at bay and, indeed, might have doubled their advantage midway through the second half when Holland chipped the keeper only for the ball to come back off an upright.

Holland created another effort which Laizans did well to block while Ronan Scannell fired just over the bar.

Dinaburg were reduced to ten men in stoppage time when Artem Iashkin received his marching orders but despite referee Luc Wilmes playing five minutes of stoppage time the Reds held on to record a famous victory.
