Glenavon 1-2 Dungannon Swifts
Carnegie Premier League - Tuesday, 1st January, 2008
GLENAVON'S miserable run stretched to nine games with yet another reversal despite leading for almost an hour at Mourneview Park.

Niall McGinn might have helped the Swifts to an early advantage with a promising effort in the opening seconds only to see it well saved by Tuda Murphy followed, on nine minutes, by a cross for Mark McAllister which was unfortunately fired high and wide.

Glenavon moved into the lead after 14 minutes when David Bracken superbly chested the ball down before turning to volley past the helpless Dwayne Nelson.

And they might have made it 2-0 just six minutes later when a Paul Carville effort took a ricochet back off the bar.

McGinn came close again for the Swifts early in the second half with a half volley but it wasn't long before they did level when, on 67 minutes, Adam McMinn knocked home the rebound from six yards after McGinn's effort came back off the post.

The Swifts got the winner they deserved ten minutes from time when Mark McAllister crossed for the inrushing Austin Friel to fire home from six yards.
