Club Licensing Scheme
In the Autumn of 2000, UEFA proposed a new concept for all Clubs playing football in European Competitions.

Club Licensing is designed to help Clubs reach and maintain certain standards relating to all aspects of a Football Club. The Irish Football Association is committed to helping the Clubs’ achieve the higher standards set out in this manual.

With the introduction of the Club Licensing System, the following objectives are being pursued :-

  • Improving the economic and financial capabilities of Clubs, increasing their transparency and credibility, and placing the necessary importance on the protection of creditors.
  • Further promotion of, and continuing priority given to, the training and care of young players in each Club.
  • Safeguarding the continuity of International Competitions for one season.
  • Monitoring the financial fair play in those Competitions.
  • Assuring that Clubs have adequate levels of management and organisation.
  • Providing spectators and media with well-appointed, well-equipped and safe stadiums.
